“The best fish & chips I’ve had since Inverness, Scotland. We’ll be back the next time we’re in town.”
TripAdvisor reviewClimb the stairs over the Ada Bike Shop and you walk into a warm-wood, corten-steel loft that does something most places don’t: it’s a counter deli by day and a full-service grill by night, with the original rooftop over the river village. Same room, two completely different meals.

The day side runs on NY-style sandwiches: the Schnitzel and Brooklyn Reubens, ribeye Phillys shaved to order, half-pound Angus burgers, and a create-your-own board with more builds than you’ll get through in a year.
The breads are baked in-house at the Schnitz bakery, and the greens come from Vertical Paradise Farms in Caledonia — close enough to be honest about. You order at the counter, grab a number, and watch the grill do its thing.

After four, the lights drop and the room turns. Full service brings out the grill card: Snake River Farms Wagyu sirloin, salmon over parmesan risotto, Great Lakes lake perch, and scratch sweets — the carrot cake the regulars swear by.
It’s the same kitchen, working a different menu, and in warm weather the rooftop opens for dinner above the village. It’s how a counter deli became the #1-rated table in Ada.

It’s a counter-deli kind of thing — the menu carries the names of the people who built it.

TripAdvisor review“The carrot cake is the best we’ve ever had — and the atmosphere is perfect, especially up on the rooftop.”
